My Story: From Design to Development at Scale
I began my career at GoDaddy providing WordPress consultations for small business. With a background in design and a passion for building, I quickly became a go-to resource for advanced customizations, troubleshooting, and code edits beyond standard scope.
That drive, earned me a promotion to Website Builder, the departments most technical role, combining design and development. I built full WordPress sites end-to-end utilizing customer supplied content. This experience sharpened my skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL. I even began building small web apps using React and loved every minute of it.
As I grew, so did my ambition. I wanted move beyond WordPress and contribute to professional-grade software at the enterprise level. That led me to Marketing Operations (MOps), supporting the Front of Site (FOS) team at GoDaddy.com.
Transitioning into Enterprise Web Development
Joining MOps meant diving into a very different world - enterprise-scale web development. I encountered complex workflows, microservices, internal tooling, and cross-functional collaboration with Product Managers, Engineers, and Designers.
I started out contributing to GoDaddy’s homepage, our flagship property with the highest traffic, most experimentation, and fastest pace. It was a trial by fire, but an incredibly valuable learning experience.
Projects I’ve Contributed To
Over time, I earned the opportunity to lead high-visibility special projects across GoDaddy.com. A few highlights include:
- GoDaddy.com Homepage & International Homepage
- Christmas Landing Page
- Select Plan Pages
- WHOIS Contentful Page
- GoDaddy Pro Pages (currently owned)
- Pricing Landing Page (currently owned)
- PreCheck Add-to-Cart Pages (MOps site-wide implementation lead)
I’m proud to be the go-to person for high-impact projects requiring precision, technical skill, and creative problem solving.
How I Work Today
In my day-to-day, I:
- Build and maintain landing pages using Sitecore
- Collaborate with Engineers, Designers, and PMs on feature rollouts
- Debug, QA, and triage issues across multiple markets and languages
- Own two products for MOps: GoDaddy Pro Pages and the Pricing Landing Page
- Lead “Special Team” initiatives, like our current PreCheck rollout, unifying the global purchase path
I also take great pride in experimenting with new tools and workflows, and I’ve helped pilot Contentful integrations during its early rollout.
CONTINUOUS LEARNING & MY FUTURE GOALS
Part of the appeal of MOps was the opportunity to work directly with the Engineering team on FBI (Front of Site Bugs & Issues). I was lucky to participate in hands-on training and contribute to real engineering tickets before the program sunset due to resource constraints.
Since then, I’ve continued sharpening my development skills and recently graduated with a Bachelor’s in Software Engineering, made possible by GoDaddy’s tuition reimbursement program.
My next goal? Transition into a full-time Software Engineering role and continue building scalable, user-focused web experiences.
ENTERPRISE CMS EXPERIENCE (Sitecore & Contentful)
In my role, I work daily with enterprise-grade CMS platforms, primarily Sitecore and Contentful, to manage global web experiences for GoDaddy. This includes:
- Building modular, scalable landing pages
- Managing localization across 17 languages and 42 markets
- Configuring content in collaboration with Product Managers, Content Strategists, and Engineers
- Launching split tests and tracking results using experimentation platforms
This hands-on CMS experience ensures not only that content is visually polished, but also technically sound and optimized for performance and conversion.
PROCESS OWNERSHIP & CROSS-FUNCTIONAL IMPACT
I’ve taken on increasing levels of ownership over time, leading major initiatives that span multiple departments. This includes:
- Creating new content workflows to streamline special project delivery
- Partnering with Engineering to pilot tooling updates and address pain points
- Acting as a go-between for QA, Dev, and Marketing teams to ensure clear requirements and clean handoffs
- Helping identify and solve friction points in GoDaddy’s page delivery pipeline
Being both technical and business-minded has allowed me to bridge communication gaps and help projects ship faster and cleaner.
EXPERIMENTATION & OPTIMIZATION AT SCALE
A big part of my contribution in MOps involves A/B testing and conversion-focused design. Working on GoDaddy’s homepage taught me how:
- Microcopy and spacing changes can drive lift at scale
- CTA placement impacts behavior differently across devices and locales
- Performance, marketing content, CVR and GCR scores directly affect revenue
These experiments require careful configuration, metric tracking, and collaboration with analysts to determine success and inform iteration.
PROBLEM SOLVING & BUG OWNERSHIP
In addition to building pages, I’ve served as the go-to resource for tricky bugs, layout issues, and CMS limitations. Highlights:
- Debugging cross-browser display issues across multiple device types
- Triage of urgent homepage breakage during marketing launches
- Working with engineers on root cause analysis when bugs touch multiple services
- Rapid fixes and updates across multiple regional homepages during promotions
Solving these problems has strengthened my troubleshooting skills and taught me how to communicate clearly with stakeholders under pressure.
Screenshots & Work Samples
Due to NDA restrictions, I can’t share internal tools or Figma designs here-but I’ve included screenshots of live projects I’ve contributed to. I’d be happy to walk you through specific examples during an interview.
Highlights from Special Projects
My favorite contributions are special projects that push me to learn, prototype, and ship under deadline. Some examples include:
- PreCheck Add-to-Cart Experience: Spearheaded rollout across multiple product flows to unify global cart behavior
- GoDaddy Pro Landing Page: Collaborated across design, SEO, and localization to modernize layout and messaging
- Select Plan Page Framework: Built and tested reusable layout templates that serve multiple business units
- Contentful WHOIS Page: Helped pilot new CMS capabilities and worked closely with engineers to ensure correct implementation
Each project pushed my skills forward while giving me real ownership over outcomes.
In conclusion
My journey from WordPress to enterprise-level development has been driven by curiosity, adaptability, and a passion for building great digital experiences. As I continue to grow in MOps and pursue software engineering full-time, I’m proud of the contributions I’ve made and excited for what’s ahead.
